HISTORY

Nueva Valencia Nationa High School was one of the fist barrio high schools in Guimaras. It opened in June 1966 by virtue of the Barrio High School Charter.

The school has sustained countless challenges transitioning from a barangay high school until it became what is now Nueva Valencia National High School. The school is the division leader school of the Division of Guimaras.

The Nueva Valencia National High School is located in Poblacion, Nueva Valencia, Guimaras, thirteen kilometers away from the provincial capital and the Division Office, two hundred meters before the Municipal Cemetery, and two hundred meters after the road crossing going to the famous Alubihod Beaches. The school site is a 46,600 square meter-lot; the late Congressman Pedro G. Trono and his sister Trinidad Gestosani, the former Mayor of Guimbal, Iloilo, donated 40,000 square and Mrs. Purificacion Gotera and her children of Poblacion, Nueva Valencia donated the remaining 6,600 square meters.  The latter donated the lot to the Department of Education specifically for the use of the Nueva Valencia National High School.

There are thirteen buildings constructed on the school site which were funding by both Filipino and international sources.   From the national government, we received the funds to build one Principal-led classroom building, one Home Economics building and five other buildings.  The Save the Children Federation donated  two four- classroom buildings; USAID-ESF donated one two-story building; while SEDIP  gave  one two -story- six classroom building, a two-classroom building and one Industrial Arts building.

The School promotes and provides effective learning, quality education, updated teaching and learning strategies, sound policies, and programs affecting the aspirations of the community.  The school staff is composed of thirty (37) teachers, a nurse, a utility worker, disbursing officer, bookkeeper, security guard and a principal.  The school nurse also serves the three elementary schools in the municipality of Nueva Valencia, namely Igang, Magamay, and Sto. Domingo Elementary Schools.  Students from neighboring and far barangays of Nueva Valencia flock to Nueva Valencia National High School due to accessibility of transportation and their parents were also products of the School.  As the Division Leader School in the Division of Guimaras, the School lives up to the expectations of its clientele.  For the 2011-2012 school year, 1,102 students have enrolled in 24 sections with six sections for each year.
